explore...dream...and discover... “Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sail. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

Unveiling the Real Beauty of Women
The event started off with a small feast, everyone enjoyed the food that was generously prepared by the sisters of the community. Right after the gathering, each of us took a seat and earnestly waited for the event to start.
The talk was brief, but full of heart. It made me reflect and contemplate on what real beauty really means. I grew up in the Philippines, where our culture is focused on the welfare of our families. My Parents made me feel that I’m the most beautiful little girl that they have. I feel like a princess. All their attention, love and time are mine. I was so lucky that I get the things that I wanted --->Pretty dolls, nice clothes and to fancy jewelries. Oh! These things made me feel more beautiful. My perception of beauty is superficial. If you have long black hair, big eyes and fair skin, then you are beautiful. If what you see makes you feel good, maybe these things can be regarded as beautiful.
I guess most if not all feel the same way, anyone will be tempted to own these fancy things. People will consume their energy on how they can earn money to be able to buy new things every chance they have. A new bag will definitely make a woman happy. Buying a new pair of shoes will make them happier. They feel happy because they feel beautiful. Who would not feel happy if you receive commendation once in a while for having a good skin, branded bags and shoes. People associate beauty with happiness. If a person is beautiful then she can be happy. People even engage themselves with activities that will make them feel beautiful. Going to the gym, going to a facial clinic and the list goes on.
This ideology made me wonder what beauty really means. Beauty remains to be vague and broad. Beauty may be seen differently depending on how you live your life. After hearing what Sister Menchie has to say? I realized that Real Beauty is Happiness. You may have an attractive face, perfect body, big house, fancy cars etc and all, but still feel empty inside. Some people may have nothing, but you may wonder why they have smile on their faces. How can these people, who have nothing be happy and feel beautiful inside.
I try to look back and try to weigh the happiness I feel when I bought a new bag or new clothes. I feel happy and I feel beautiful. I have new things to brag about. But these beauty and happiness seem to be temporary. Then I try to look back the times I have shared with my family, the small talks that we had, the food that we ate and the memories we shared. The beauty of these moments lingers on me. The more I think of these moments, I feel joy in my heart. All these year I have lived. I now realized that beauty is not limited to tangible things. Beauty lies within our hearts and soul.
In 1 Peter 3:3-4 “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.”
What we are outside doesn’t determine who we are inside.
I left the place with a happy heart. I feel beautiful inside and out. I feel blessed that there are people who love and accept me for who am I. They love me because of the person that I am not because of the things I have. I now have a different perception of beauty Real Beauty is happiness.
Let us all continue to be beautiful….

Wowowow! the new cover of Vogue Magazine
She's a die hard fan of you, believe me :)
This billboard is the most expensive among the advertisements. Watcha say Gaby?
You even proved the cliche"A face that could launch a thousand ships."
It's raining men alleluya...but non of them is....
Gaby, you're looking for a destitute or a corporate man, isn't it?
10 Guidelines From God
no idea who wrote it, but I was so touched
by it, that I had to share it with you.
I hope that you will be blessed by
it and will share it with others.
People are made to be loved and things are made to be used.
The confusion is in the world because people are being used and things are being loved.
Ten Guidelines From God
Effective Immediately,
please be aware that there are changes YOU need
to make in YOUR life. These changes need to be
completed in order that I may fulfill My promises
to you to grant you peace, joy and happiness in
this life. I apologize for any inconvenience,
but after all that I am doing, this seems very
little to ask of you. Please, follow
these 10 guidelines
1. QUIT WORRYING:
Life has dealt you a blow and all you do is sit
and worry. Have you forgotten that I am here
to take all your burdens and carry them for you?
Or do you just enjoy fretting over every little
thing that comes your way?
2. PUT IT ON THE LIST:
Something needs done or taken care of. Put it
on the list. No, not YOUR list. Put it on MY
to-do-list. Let ME be the one to take care
of the problem. I can't help you until you turn
it over to Me. And although My to-do-list
is long, I am after all... God. I can take care
of anything you put into My hands. In fact,
if the truth were ever really known, I take
care of a lot of things for you that you never
even realize.
3. TRUST ME:
Once you've given your burdens to Me,
quit trying to take them back. Trust in
Me. Have the faith that I will take care of
all your needs, your problems and your trials.
Problems with the kids? Put them on My list.
Problem with finances? Put it on My list.
Problems with your emotional roller coaster?
For My sake, put it on My list. I want to
help you. All you have to do is ask.
4. LEAVE IT ALONE:
Don't wake up one morning and say,
"Well, I'm feeling much stronger now, I think
I can handle it from here." Why do you think
you are feeling stronger now? It's simple.
You gave Me your burdens and I'm taking
care of them. I also renew your strength
and cover you in my peace. Don't you
know that if I give you these problems back,
you will be right back where you started?
Leave them with Me and forget about
them. Just let Me do my job.
5. TALK TO ME:
I want you to forget a lot of things.
Forget what was making you crazy.
Forget the worry and the fretting because
you know I'm in control. But there's one
thing I pray you never forget. Please, don't
forget to talk to Me - OFTEN! I love YOU!
I want to hear your voice. I want you to
include Me in on the things going on in your life.
I want to hear you talk about your friends
and family. Prayer is simply you having
a conversation with Me. I want to be your
dearest friend.
6. HAVE FAITH:
I see a lot of things from up here that you
can't see from where you are. Have faith in
Me that I know what I'm doing. Trust Me;
you wouldn't want the view from My eyes.
I will continue to care for you, watch over you,
and meet your needs. You only have to trust Me.
Although I have a much bigger task than you,
it seems as if you have so much trouble just
doing your simple part. How hard can trust be?
7. SHARE:
You were taught to share when you were
only two years old. When did you forget?
That rule still applies. Share with those who are
less fortunate than you. Share your joy with
those who need encouragement. Share your
laughter with those who haven't heard any in
such a long time. Share your tears with those
who have forgotten how to cry. Share your faith
with those who have none.
8. BE PATIENT:
I managed to fix it so in just one lifetime
you could have so many diverse experiences.
You grow from a child to an adult, have children,
change jobs many times, learn many trades,
travel to so many places, meet thousands
of people, and experience so much. How can
you be so impatient then when it takes Me
a little longer than you expect to handle
something on My to-do-list? Trust in My
timing, for My timing is perfect. Just
because I created the entire universe in
only six days, everyone thinks I should
always rush, rush, rush.
9. BE KIND:
Be kind to others, for I love them just
as much as I love you. They may not dress
like you, or talk like you, or live the same way
you do, but I still love you all. Please try
to get along, for My sake. I created each
of you different in some way. It would be
too boring if you were all identical.
Please, know I love each of your differences.
10. LOVE YOURSELF:
As much as I love you, how can you not
love yourself? You were created by me for
one reason only -- to be loved, and to love
in return. I am a God of Love. Love Me.
Love your neighbors. But also love yourself.
It makes My heart ache when I see you
so angry with yourself when things go
wrong. You are very precious to me.
Don't ever forget.....
Touch someone with your love.
Rather than focus upon the thorns of life,
smell the roses and count your blessings!

Pizza ala Gigi
I'm not a good cook and kitchen is not my cup of tea, but my sisters do. Actually, I don't have any idea on how to do it. I just followed my instinct on how to make it. Baking pizza doesn't really need much labour. It took me only 20 minutes and presto! pizza ala gigi. Bon a petite.
Here are the ingridience: pita dough, mozarella cheese, green bell pepper, tomato sauce, oregano, crabstick and a smile hahahaha.

Shameful Day
I am deeply concerned about the well-being of the Filipinos in HK. They have nothing to do with the incident. I hope their employers won't threat them harshly, and I hope the Hong Kong government will resolve this in a way they will point out the concerned people and not blaming the whole country for the faults of the few.
My deepest condolences to the love ones of the victims. May their soul rest in peace!

Braviella tu promesa
Facade of Forbidden City. The famous home of Reyna Dowager or Queen Xixi. My friend took this pic. She has a very good resolution on her cam. BTW, the pic. hanging on the huge wall is Mao Zhedong, one of the famous rulers of China.
Inside the Zoo with the lazy Panda at the back.
At the Gem Exhibit. I'm really fascinated by these globes. BTW, the prices are no joke! cos' they are really made of real Gems.
Me & fat Fluke
Got tired of walking inside the Summer Palace. There's a lagoon that goes through the Forbidden City from this Palace.
top 5 on my mixpod list
My top one is>>> Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson
Second on the row>>>At the Cross by The Hillsong
Third>>>Beautiful Disaster by Kelly C. again (isn't obvious she's my fav.?)
Forth>>>Keep Holdin On by Glee Cast, original version by Avril Lavigne
and lastly hihihihi got LSS with this song. the chorus keeps repeating in my mind >>>Spanish Version of This Time for Africa (Esto es Africa) by Shakira.
LSS:
Samina mina eh eh..waka waka eh eh...
Samina mina sam alegua esto es Africa!!!
Check them out on youtube and tell me if your world was rock by these songs. I hope you won't get LSS (last song syndrome) mean that, sometimes when you heard a song and keeps repeating in your brain unconciously, or suddenly you'll realized that you have sung it several times in a day or sometimes it lasted for a week. It always happen to me.
BTW, Beautiful Disaster (Maricris version) and Breakaway are on my playlist, beside my entries.
Happy listening....:)

Is this insomia?
I did a lot of things to fight insomia; I read books, but I'm still wide awake after finishing it; eating late at night, eventhough I knew that it is bad to sleep with your bloated tummy; tiring myself, cleaning my toilet at the mid of the night and scrubbing my veranda, but i ended up having back and muscle pain; dozing myself with my favourite songs, nyaaa.....not effective! and lastly, though it may seem kids stuff, i tried to count the imaginary sheeps to battle this insomania habit.
I wish I could go back to my early to bed, early rise habit. Now I know why the vampires do not come out on day time...because they have insomia! hehehehe joke!

La Madrastra (got addicted watching it)
some of my favourite lines of Maria (Victoria Ruffo)
"Si, soy yo, Maria, tu peor pesadilla!" >>>her first grand appearance to her traitors after 20 years in jail.
"Te odio Esteban San Roman! te odio con todo mi corazon!" These words were repeated severals times in differect episodes, but the most intense scene was when Esteban visited her in her luxurious hotel to clear his conscience to Maria, but it ended up provoking much more pain to her.
'Veinte anos, veinte anos sin mis hijos, sin amor...huhuhuhu." repeated several times, too, whenever she had bad encounter with the buitres, her hijos and Esteban.
The official DVD Cover
I bought this DVD on e-bay, but got frustrated when i started watching it cos' it was jumpaked-a lot of deleted scenes
The Wedding
How could you marry the same man who abadoned you in cold prison for twenty years and made your children beleive that you are dead already??? think about it Maria!

Mucho lagrimas! Don't fall into his bait!

Laura Pausini La Solitudine
One of my favourite songs of Laura Pausini La Soledad (La Solitudine in Italiant). She's one of the most successful singers in Italy. She gained popularity in North and South America because of ther English and Spanish rendition of her compositions.

My two months off from work gave me the chance to learn how to pluck the guitar. I first learned it through the web sensational virtual guru-THE YOUTUBE. I searched for a step-by-step ways on how to learn play it. I literraly followed what they were saying and demonstrating, after few days of doing so, i just realized that it wasn't really enough to learn virtually, I need human intervention that I could ask for. I approached people who have been playing guitar for quite long and lucky enough, I got lots of infos and techniques. I could say that my two months off were productive. Now, I just need to polish and learn playing my favourite songs.

Bangkok Aftermath

How could these people bear to kill their own blood?

Used to be the WORLD TRADE CENTER and Central World-one of the second largest mall in Southeast Asia, it was also burnt down during the havoc.
The Aftermath... I fully understand the cry out, the conviction and the what they are fighting for...but when "democracy" became associated with killing and burning the city?

What happened to the land of smile??? the worst scenario...flaming city.:(

Thank you so much hermana Leonora for accepting me again. You never know how much you made me feel complete again. Thank you also for the prayers, love, the values you taught me, and for being my second mom. God bless you.
Happy Birthday Joyce
Happy..happy birthday! I know how it feels when you are reaching the finish line, but don't worry, that's the realization of life. Take it or leave it, we must learn to accept the fact that we are no longer the same kids who used to celebrate it with pancit and cake ehehehe. But instead, be grateful for the wonderful years that HE showered upon you. I know He has a lot of things stored for you this year. Just wait for His surprises and accept for whatever they are. May He grant all your earnest desires!
I wish you all the best in life sis! God bless!

Election-sino ang iboboto ko?

As I'd look at my balot that was sent to me by the embassy, there was a certain eerie sound that crept in me- a pertinent question kept repeating in my mind. Whom should I vote for? I should take this seriously, cos' this is my freedom to vote and for each vote that will be cast, lies the future of our mother nation. I have crossed examined and searched the political background and affiliations of the candidates. Their platforms were clear as crystal, aplenty and very impressive, but do they really fulfill these, or they might just ended up written in bold letters and be part of unfullfilled promises? I find no candidate eligible to have my precious vote. But I have to vote, though casting vote is not an easy business though it may seem like that.
Honestly, I despise our present government. I felt I was cheated by these political leaders whom I voted in the previous election. I was blinded by thier political ideology they've put in front of us.
I'm a choiceless voter! Since I have to keep this freedom to vote I will vote or I have to vote to a person or party against the rebellious voice of my conscience. I know whether I go left or go right or remain in between I would feel very bad after casting my vote. Isn’t it a tragedy that I am going to select a ruler whom I don’t like at all? But I have no option. I just wish that despite all the allegations from each aspiring leaders...they will fullfill whatever promises they have voiced out several times and will not be shaken by temptations (corruption, plundering etc.) that might hinder them to serve our beloved country.I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this up coming election. I hope it will create a huge change to our country.

Mundo de Caramelos
by: Dana Paola
uohh uohh uohh
Quiero un mundo de caramelo
donde todo sepa mejor
y esa niña que llevo dentro
se me escape del corazon
pa’ que jueguen con sus amigos
y se ria con todo el mundo
que la risa de todos los niños
es la musica del amor
Hazme un mundo de caramelo

Viveme
Viveme
Sung by: Laura Pausini
[verse 1]
No necesito más de nada ahora que
me iluminó tu amor inmenso fuera y dentro.
[chorus]
Víveme sin miedo ahora
que sea una vida o sea una hora
no me dejes libre aquí desnudo
no me dejes libre aquí desnudo
mi nuevo espacio que ahora es tuyo, te ruego.
Víveme sin más vergüenza
aunque esté todo el mundo en contra
deja la apariencia y toma el sentido
y siente lo que llevo dentro.
[verse 3]
Has abierto en mí
la fantasía
me esperan días de una ilimitada dicha
es tu guión
la vida mía
me enfocas, me diriges, pones las ideas.
[chorus]
Víveme sin miedo ahora
aunque esté todo el mundo en contra
deja la apariencia, toma el sentido
y siente lo que llevo dentro.
Broke...
It is my first time to sell somethig that I bled before I was able to buy it. It really pains me seeing my thing with the new owner, but that's life...sometimes we have to let go of this dilemma or rather say drama. I conditioned myself not to regret selling my notebook for I know that I can buy better than that soon...I wish...
My goal this year is to save money for my future plans. I wish I could find a better job that will give me good compensation. I love my workplace now, if only I have enough savings I will not think to move to another job and salary wouldn't be an issue for me. As long as I'm happy with my work I don't give myself reason to leave, but this year is the most difficult time for me to settle all my responsibilites cos' everything came at the same time when I'm totally broke. I don't even have means to settle these. My part time jobs will start again next month. I badly needed new one!!! I did apply, but no availble jobs at my conveninet time after work.
Everything happened with purpose. It has been a year since I started working like a zombie. Each day last year, I work for 19 hours a day and study during the weekends just to meet my ends. I just realised how workaholic I became. Now I know why God gave me two months off from my part time jobs-it's for me to give myself a break and focus more on something that I really need to finish-my thesis. Though I'm financially unstable I am enjoying going home after work directly to my home and savor each time I spend in it. I don't have to rush after work to catch the bus so as not to be late to my next work. Sometimes I'm worried, but I know God will provide us everyhting that we need. He will give only enough for us, but if He gives more than what we asked, that's the time we have to share his blessings.

Homework 101 (Tarea 101) part 3
Ever since I was a young girl, I knew that I wanted to become a teacher in the future. I was inspired and motivated by my fifth grade and my philosophy professors in college. It did not come in my mind to work in the corporate world and I tend to believe that in this kind of business I’ll just end up helping my boss on how to be rich, but teaching is such a noble passion, that urged me to live my whole life educating and molding young minds.
In grade school, I enjoyed my Agriculture, Math and Science subjects. They taught us how real things happen in Agriculture. We planted vegetables at the school backyard and harvested in their due time. Since then, I developed passion in planting and even my family got into it. In my Math class, we did not merely work on workbooks or worksheets, but, instead we were tasked to formulate our own Mathematical problems. My teacher called it “Long-Range Homework.” Everyday we have to exchange our self-made Math problem and tried to solve other student’s works. At the end of the semester, we compiled and submitted them individually. Though we had limited resources in Science it did not hinder our smart and resourceful teacher. She utilized materials that we commonly trash, also, we visited nearby places were we conducted our activities and experiments. In college, everyday I got so excited to sit on my chair and listen to what my teacher has to say. I was so overwhelmed by the way my philosophy professor taught his subject- he was such a mind-tickler. Before he will start his class, he will give us a question that puzzles everyone. He knew how to trigger our sleeping neurons and motivated us well to think creatively and appreciate what we had done at the end of the class.
By the time I graduated in college I was bombarded with different learnings. I got high expectations from my professors believing that they have fully equipped me with the knowledge I needed to know to face the real world of the so-called professionals. I just realized that- “An education is not a thing one gets, but a life long process.” As I’ve embarked to the world of teaching, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge that I did not learn in school. The teaching strategies and methodologies I’ve learned were not sufficient to run my daily routine in my class. Instead, I’ve learned other strategies along the process of teaching through my students. One teacher approached me why I risk my class to such kind of strategies. I just simply told her that if I will try it I will not know if this strategy will be effective or not. Anyway, it’s only a matter of trying our best to find effective ways in teaching. Some senior educators are quite resistant to try new trends in teaching. They maintain and use traditional ways in teaching because they are afraid of changes and to try something new. I respect their opinion, but we are gearing towards a holistic approach in education to produce competitive citizens in the future. Now, I always engage my students for whatever activities we have and as much as possible I let them explore things on their own before I give my own opinion. At the end of the day I don’t really feel tired because I just act as a facilitator (not parrotting everything). I do enjoy and get excited for what ever result they might have. Sometimes they even get better ideas than me.
Always consider even the least answer they might contribute in the class. Students feel more comfortable expressing ideas if they are engage.
Homework 101 (Tarea 101) part 2
Write a 1- page reflection paper on what is your belief a teacher’s duty should. Give examples of activities students will perform and the reasons “YOU” believe they are important to do such activities.
A teacher has many different job responsibilities, which can differ depending upon the age of the students and the subject being taught. I have enumerated teacher’s academic duties based on my opinion. They might sound familiar, but often ignore to practice because we are afraid of changes and failures. A usual habit is not easy to break and create new one, but failure is what will teach us most. I just wanted to prove that cliché that- “We have hundred reasons for failure, but each failure gives us new perspective and determination.” These are the duties that I believe teachers must practice.
A teacher should:
1. facilitate rather than supplying the students with basic facts;
2. engage students to different activities and give equal chances;
3. develop students skills;
4. provoke activities that can develop creative thinking;
5. always integrate one lesson to another especially in their daily life and how to put these learning into practice;
6. be flexible and adaptable to all unexpected occurrences in and outside the classroom;
7. be resourceful, creative and as much as possible used material that are visible
to the students;
8. let students explore other options;
9. demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge; and
10. give authentic assessments.
These are simple, modest duties, and yet much more delicate than that found in the older schools, where the material simply helps the children to understand the mind of the teacher, who must pass on her own ideas to a child who must in turn receive them. One of the examples I just recently used in my class was- giving each student a chance to explore and find solutions to a problem they have just encountered while learning Science. Before I gave my own opinion and answer I guided them on how to solve this problem on their own. (I have used the authentic assessment in this activity) It took few days before they have solved the problem, but it was worth the time they had spent to find answer/solution. They even presented good ideas than mine. I was really satisfied with the outcome of their activity. This kind of assessment is quite risky and time consuming, it can also interrupt the flow of the lessons, but it is really effective, fair for everyone, and the answers are not based on the books that can be easily copied, but rather based on everyone’s opinion.
Homework 101 (Tarea 101)
1. How do I organize myself?
I try to set up an ACHIEVABLE to do lists or a daily/weekly schedule and tick off the tasks as they get done. I always prioritize the most important one and as soon as I complete my tasks I treat myself. I do this even if I think there is very little to do otherwise there is a good chance that even your few jobs won’t get done because I have ended mooching about on the internet (yes, am guilty!) I do attend to one task at a time until the task is finished. I’ll be more thorough, focused, and make less mistakes. A wise beardy old man once says “the man that chases two rabbits won’t catch one”?
2. How organize am I with my work?
I always impose working hours on myself. I find this one very tricky because I LOVE my job. When at day time (or working time slot) is over, then it’s over. I tried hard not to sneak back to my work, or make a little something, or do some related to work. Working out of hours may seem largely harmless, but it’s not very good for me in the long-run. I need to treat myself, have time with my family and friends, and get some rest. Doing this will make me and all around me happy and you I’ll find it easier to stay fresh and focused when working.
3. How do I organize my relationship with others?
I’m a busy body, but I do know how to manage all my commitments. It’s just only a matter of time management and priorities that can set everything well without neglecting others specially those who are really close to me. I always make list to all my commitments and put red marks on the dates, so as not to forget special dates like birthdays, parties etc. If there’s no way out to attend it, I always make it a point to inform the person ahead of time and try to make it up when I’m no longer busy.
Missin' halo-halo...
So what does halo-halo mean? FYI, it's not the light ring over the head of an angel.
For you guys around, here's a fact about it.
Halo-halo (from Tagalog word halo, "mix") is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, milk, sugar and served cold in a tall glass or bowl.

Whoaaaa...mouthwatery halo-halolicious...
Summer is here!!!
During this season, I always crave for something cold...ice-cream, frapuccino, halo-halo and cold drinks. Yeah...they're sweets, but it quench the thirst and cools us down hahaha.
I was really anticipating a precipitation this week and gosh...it did early this morning. Now I could close my door, and savor the cold winds on my veranda=)
Arts in my Heart
Last year, aside from teaching Science, which is really my line of expertise, I was loaded with another two subjects (computer and Arts). I assumed that Arts would be the difficult subject for me to teach cos' computer is handy for me though I am not that really knowledgeable with other programs in computer. I was very reluctant to accept it, but then again, something clicked in my brain and smilingly accepted it. This is a chance for me to practice a little of my knowledge on Art. I don't want to brag, but I was awarded as Artist of the Year when I graduated in High School. I have a keen inclination in Arts. But as I am not trained to teach Art, it literally consumed my vacant time preparing for each class that I have for Arts. I just wished that I can convey what is really the content of the syllables that were handed to me. My boss gave me some materials and supplementary books. I did not get much idea from these stuff, so I begun searching on the net. I found a lot of brilliant ideas and found myself enjoying collecting materials for this course.
Some people see our capabilities better than we are. So do not take it as a burden if they offer you a task that is not in line of your expertise. Take it as an opportunity to explore something beyond the boundaries of our skills. At every opportunity, try to learn the unknown. Do not be afraid if you failed, but at least we tried and we know were we can excel.
After almost a year of teaching Art once a week, I just realized that I really have talent in Arts and I was able to develop it more. If I did not accept it, I will not find my new passion in my heart...ARTS!
Here are some of the masterpieces of my brilliant and artistic students.
I'm so proud of their work!
